TECNO MUTANT:  Statement             Artwork

Title: Techno Mutant
Type: Photo project
Technique: Photo, models, body painting, tulle, water pistols, various objects provided by the model.
Year: 2017

The human being who accepts violence as normal, is no longer a human being, he becomes something else. Surviving this forces us to change our form and existence until we lose what we once were: to accept violence and conflict as normal, the human being becomes Techno Mutant.
Techno Mutants are an evolution of the human being who, when passing from post-human become something else. We are no longer talking about men and women who merge with machines but about new beings who have lost all human traces and arrived at a level of mutation which is seen as the only way to endure this universe, this reality.
Unlike other works of mine, such as Cyber Face or Woodland, in which I also examine the downward spiral of mankind through the lens of my imagination, an imagination which is strongly linked to the one developed by the Cyberpunk culture, here the focus is no longer on the acceptance of mutation. The mutation is in fact forced, imposed by the necessity of survival. The Techno Mutants express their despair, their pain, their bewilderment of being on a journey within a process of mutation into something unknown.
In Techno Mutant, as in other works, I put forward my way of making art without using digital tools: the process of visualizing the finished work, starting from the images in my mind which are halted in their initial phase through the physical drawing of them, the sketches with which I elaborate my initial ideas and visions and then, through a complex work of staging, make-up and lighting, finally arrive at the shot. Once the photograph has been taken, there is no digital retouching so that the image retains and shows the traces of its work.
